Gameplay [edit]

In Test Bulldoze, the role player typically uses 1 of several exotic operation cars to race to a terminate line confronting opponents or in a time limit, while avoiding traffic and police force.[1]

Unlimited serial [edit]

Examination Drive Unlimited includes an open up world surround and allows for the purchase of houses, cars and grapheme customisation.

History [edit]

Early on Titles (1987-1991) [edit]

In 1987, Accolade published Examination Drive as a computer game worldwide, while Electronic Arts released the game in the United Kingdom. The quality of the Amiga, Atari ST, Commodore 64, and DOS ports differ from each other.[two] [three] The Amiga version'south detailed visuals and sound realistically depicted the game's racing theme,[2] while its Atari ST counterpart used simplified graphics and sound effects. The Commodore 64 and DOS ports were of similar quality to the Amiga version. The gameplay was kept intact for all platforms.[4]

Test Drive was a commercial success, with sales having surpassed 250,000 copies by Nov 1989.[five] Information technology received generally positive reviews from video game critics. Computer Gaming World stated in 1987 that Exam Drive "offers outstanding graphics and the potential to 'hook' every Pole Position fan".[6] Compute! praised the excellent graphics and audio, merely noted that the game simply had one class.[2] The game was reviewed in 1988 in Dragon #132 past Hartley, Patricia, and Kirk Bottom in "The Role of Computers" column. The reviewers gave the game 4 12 out of five stars.[7]

Examination Bulldoze spawned several sequels and spin-offs. Distinctive Software developed its 1989 sequel, The Duel: Test Bulldoze II, using several software libraries. Distinctive (every bit Unlimited Software, Inc.) used the aforementioned software libraries for a MS-DOS port of Outrun, resulting in the Accolade v. Distinctive lawsuit. Distinctive Software won, and then the rights to brand the Test Drive games without the source code transferred to Honor. The courtroom also plant that Accolade had failed to demonstrate that the residue of hardships was in its favor.[8] Some other sequel, Test Bulldoze III: The Passion, was adult and published by Honour in 1990.[9]

Revival series (1997-2004) [edit]

After a few years of the franchise being in dormency, In 1997 Accolade reinvented the franchise with brand new titles. The commencement of these was Examination Drive: Off-Route, an off-road truck racing spinoff,[ten] and Test Drive iv, the kickoff video game developed by Pitbull Syndicate.[11]

In 1998, Pitbull Syndicate developed 2 further Exam Bulldoze titles, Test Drive 4X4 (too known as Exam Drive Off-Road 2), a sequel to the Test Drive: Off-Road spinoff, and Test Drive 5; both games were the two last entries in the serial to be published by Award.[12] [13]

In April 1999, Accolade was acquired by French video game company Infogrames for a combined sum of U.s.a.$60 million, U.s.$l million of which in greenbacks and U.s.$10 million in growth majuscule, and was renamed Infogrames N America, Inc.[14] [15] The company chief executive officer, Jim Barnett, was named head of Infogrames Amusement's American distribution subsidiary.[16] As a result, Exam Drive 6 was the first game in the series to be published past the newly named Infogrames N America in 1999.[17] An in-house team at Infogrames North America would get onto develop Test Drive Off-Road 3 in 1999, and would likewise become to develop Exam Bulldoze Cycles, which was cancelled in June 2000 with the exception of the Game Boy Color version.[18]

In 2000, due to copyright problems between Infogrames Due north America and Infogrames Multimedia over the Test Drive trademark, Cryo Interactive picked up publishing rights to Examination Bulldoze six in Europe for a May 2000 release,[19] while Infogrames Multimedia released Test Drive Off-Route iii under the name of 4x4 World Bays in Apr 2000. Around this time, Infogrames North America released Le Mans 24 Hours and the Dreamcast version of V-Rally ii under the localised names of Test Drive Le Mans and Exam Drive Five-Rally respectively. A Nintendo 64 localisation of Michelin Rally Masters: Race of Champions known as Test Drive Rally was as well planned, but this was cancelled in February 2000.[20] Fellow Game Male child Color titles included Examination Drive Cycles and Test Drive 2001, an update to the GBC version of Test Drive 6.

In November 2001, the last entry in the Off-Road subseries - Test Bulldoze Off-Road Broad Open, known in Europe simply as Off-Road Wide Open, was released on the PlayStation two, beingness developed past Angel Studios. An Xbox port was released a year later with additional content and graphic improvements.

In May 2002, Infogrames released a reboot of the series titled TD Overdrive: The Alliance of Speed (Released every bit Test Drive in North America) and was the final entry in the series to be adult by Pitbull Syndicate.[21] It was also the first entry in the serial to feature a storyline.

The next game in the series, Exam Drive: Eve of Destruction, was developed past Monster Games in 2003, and was released in 2004. The game was released in Europe under the name of Driven to Destruction.[22]

Unlimited series (2006-present) [edit]

Test Bulldoze Unlimited, developed by Eden Games and released in 2006 and 2007, features an open earth modeled after the Hawaiian island of Oahu. Its sequel Exam Drive Unlimited two was released in 2011 and includes both Oahu and the Spanish island of Ibiza. Examination Bulldoze: Ferrari Racing Legends was developed by Slightly Mad Studios and published by Rombax Games under license from Atari, in celebration of the 65th anniversary of Italian sports auto manufacturer Ferrari, featuring Formula I, sports cars, and rally cars.

In 2016, French publisher Bigben Interactive (afterward renamed Nacon) caused the Test Drive intellectual property from Atari, with plans to reboot the franchise.[23] In 2018, Bigben acquired French racing game developer Kylotonn, with Roman Vincent, president of Kylotonn suggesting they were working on the next installment of Test Drive.[24]

In April 2020, Nacon filed a trade marking to the Intellectual Holding Office for Test Drive Solar Crown,[25] [26] the last two words referring to the Solar Crown in-universe racing competition serial featured in Exam Drive Unlimited 2. The full championship of the side by side game in the serial is Exam Bulldoze Unlimited Solar Crown.[27] [26] [28] The Kylotonn-adult game will feature a i:ane recreation of Hong Kong Island.[28] As of Apr 9th, 2022, we do not know whether or not we may meet mainland Hong Kong, however speculation suggests at that place may exist more than only Hong Kong Island. The recreation of Hong Kong Island will exist similar to the recreations of Oahu in both the first two Unlimited games and Ibiza in Test Drive Unlimited ii, and volition run on WRC viii 'southward framework and handling/physics model.[28]
